Attock Petroleum plans to expand its EV charging stations and retail network in FY25, aligning with Pakistan's clean energy goals.

In a significant move towards enhancing its service offerings, Attock Petroleum Limited (APL) has announced plans to expand its electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, retail outlets, and oil storage capacity during the fiscal year 2024-25. This initiative is part of APL's broader strategy to align with Pakistan's growing emphasis on clean energy and sustainable practices.

According to APL's Annual Report for 2023-24, which was recently published at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company is actively working to extend its DC Fast Electric Vehicle Charging network along motorway service areas. This expansion is crucial as the demand for EV charging infrastructure continues to rise, reflecting a global shift towards electric mobility. APL has already made strides in this direction by installing EV charging stations at prominent locations, including the Islamabad Club and Garrison Filling Station, along with an upgraded facility at Hassan Petroleum in Islamabad’s Blue Area.

In addition to expanding its EV charging network, APL is also focusing on transitioning to on-grid solar systems at its retail outlets and storage terminals. This move not only supports Pakistan’s clean energy goals but also positions APL as a forward-thinking company in the oil marketing sector. With a market share of 10.2% in FY24, APL is one of the leading oil marketing companies in the country, operating over 750 retail outlets and nine oil storage terminals nationwide.

To further boost its retail footprint, APL is developing new retail sites in key areas. In Rawalpindi, new locations are being established on Murree Road and in Bahria Town. Meanwhile, in Lahore, expansions are underway along Raiwind Road and Canal Road. Karachi is also set to see new retail locations in the Industrial Area, Nazimabad, and on MA Jinnah Road, among others. These developments indicate APL's commitment to enhancing accessibility and convenience for its customers.

Despite facing challenges, including an 8% drop in sales volume amid a 9% industry-wide decline, APL has managed to increase its market share of petroleum products to 10.2%. This resilience is commendable, especially in a competitive market. Furthermore, the company has secured major contracts to supply jet petroleum, high-speed diesel (HSD), and petrol for FY25, reinforcing its strong relationships with defense entities, including the Pakistan Army.

Attock Petroleum's expansion plans reflect a proactive approach to meet the evolving needs of consumers while contributing to Pakistan's clean energy objectives. As the company continues to grow its EV charging network and retail presence, it not only enhances its market position but also plays a vital role in promoting sustainable energy solutions in the country. This strategic direction is likely to benefit both the company and its customers in the long run, paving the way for a greener future.
