District Price Control Committee re-fixes prices of essential commodities to alleviate public financial burden amid rising living costs.

In a significant move aimed at alleviating the financial burden on the public, the District Price Control Committee has re-fixed the prices of essential commodities. This decision comes as a response to the rising cost of living, which has been a pressing concern for many households across the region. The committee's efforts are focused on ensuring that basic food items remain affordable for the average citizen.

During a recent meeting, Deputy Commissioner Captain (Retired) Nadeem Nasir emphasized the importance of reviewing and adjusting prices to provide relief to the community. The committee has implemented a substantial decrease in the prices of several daily use items. For instance, white grams (big) will now be available at a wholesale rate of Rs.331 per kilogram, with a retail price set at Rs.340 per kilogram. Similarly, the prices for other commodities have also been adjusted, including black grams, gram pulses, and various types of lentils.

In addition to pulses, the price of milk has been standardized at Rs.170 per liter in Tehsil City, while it will be sold at Rs.160 per liter in other Tehsils. Meat prices have also been addressed, with beef priced at Rs.800 per kilogram in Tehsil City and Rs.750 per kilogram in other areas. Furthermore, the cost of bread has been fixed at Rs.13 for a 100-gram Roti, Rs.18 for Khameeri Roti, and Rs.20 for plain Naan.

The committee has also announced that the rates for fruits, vegetables, and poultry will be updated daily, following their auction. This proactive approach aims to keep the public informed and ensure that prices reflect current market conditions. To enforce these new prices, price control magistrates have been activated in the field, ready to take action against any instances of profiteering.

As the District Price Control Committee continues its efforts to stabilize prices, it is crucial for consumers to stay informed about these changes. Understanding the new pricing structure can help families budget their expenses more effectively. While the adjustments are a step in the right direction, ongoing vigilance is necessary to ensure that these prices are adhered to and that the public receives the relief it deserves. In a world where every rupee counts, such measures can make a significant difference in the daily lives of citizens.
