PIA Initiates CEO Recruitment Process

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is taking a significant step forward by launching the hiring process for a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This decision comes after the completion of the tenure of the current CEO, Amir Hayat. The airline has made it clear that it is looking for experienced individuals to lead its operations, as indicated in their recent advertisement.

To be eligible for this prestigious position, candidates must be between the ages of 45 and 57. Additionally, they should possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in the aviation industry or 20 years in managing large organizations. Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari stated unequivocally that there are no plans for the provincial government to take ownership of the national airline. She emphasized, “Mian Nawaz Sharif never indicated that Punjab would purchase PIA,” effectively putting to rest any previous speculations regarding this matter.

On the other hand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is still actively pursuing the possibility of acquiring PIA. KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has expressed his government’s willingness to surpass the existing bid of Rs. 10 billion. This comes after a previous bid from the Blue World City consortium, which did not meet expectations. Gandapur pointed out that KP's financial situation has improved significantly, with a 44% increase in revenue, which strengthens the province's interest in acquiring ownership of PIA.
