SSIC launches an e-commerce website to promote Sindh's cultural heritage and support local artisans through online sales.

KARACHI - The vibrant cultural heritage of Sindh is set to receive a significant boost with the launch of the Sindh Small Industries Corporation (SSIC) e-commerce website. This initiative, announced by Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce Jam Ikramullah Dharejo, aims to promote the rich traditions and craftsmanship of the region while providing a platform for local artisans to showcase their talents.

During a media briefing on Thursday, Minister Dharejo emphasized the importance of this online platform, stating, "SSIC is providing a platform for the talented people of Sindh. Sindh products can also be bought online." This statement highlights the dual purpose of the website: to celebrate Sindh's cultural heritage and to facilitate the sale of local products to a broader audience.

The e-commerce website is designed not only to promote the unique crafts and products of Sindh but also to empower the artisans who create them. By enabling online sales, the SSIC aims to enhance the livelihoods of these skilled individuals, allowing them to reach customers beyond their local markets. This is particularly crucial in today's digital age, where online shopping has become a norm.

In addition to the website launch, Minister Dharejo announced plans for an international-level exhibition scheduled for December. This exhibition, organized under the auspices of the Sindh Small Industries Corporation, aims to showcase the cultural heritage of Pakistan, with a special focus on Sindh. The minister stated that the goal of the exhibition is to bring the cultural richness of the region to the global stage, allowing people from around the world to appreciate and engage with Sindh's artistic traditions.

MD of the Small Industries Corporation, Sarwat Faheem, also addressed the media, providing insights into the objectives of the e-commerce platform. He reiterated the commitment of the SSIC to support local artisans and promote Sindh's cultural identity through this innovative approach.

The launch of the SSIC e-commerce website marks a significant step towards preserving and promoting Sindh's cultural heritage. By leveraging technology, the initiative not only supports local artisans but also invites the world to experience the beauty and craftsmanship of Sindh. As the global marketplace continues to evolve, such initiatives are essential for ensuring that traditional arts and crafts thrive in the modern economy, allowing future generations to appreciate and carry forward their rich cultural legacy.
