Deputy Commissioner of Quetta leads a successful crackdown on plastic pollution by seizing 77,000 kg of banned plastic bags and promoting eco-friendly alternatives. Authorities are enforcing strict laws and engaging the public in environmental initiatives for a cleaner and greener future.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Quetta, Captain (R) Saad-Bin Asad, recently announced a significant achievement in the fight against plastic pollution. In a joint operation with the police team, a whopping 77,000 kilograms of banned plastic bags were seized. This action was taken following the implementation of a new law in Balochistan that prohibits the use of plastic bags less than 50 microns thick due to their harmful impact on the environment.

The operation, spearheaded by the Environmental Protection Agency, led to the confiscation of a large quantity of illegal plastic bags. The DC stressed the importance of strict enforcement of the law to halt the use, production, and distribution of such bags.

To combat the widespread use of plastic bags, especially those smuggled from Iran, authorities have taken decisive steps. The focus now shifts towards promoting the adoption of biodegradable alternatives and educating the public about the dangers of plastic pollution.

The district administration, in partnership with the business community, is dedicated to ensuring full compliance with the plastic bag ban. The collective efforts to eradicate banned plastic bags play a crucial role in preserving a clean and sustainable environment in Quetta.

Furthermore, actions have been taken to address other violations, including shutting down unauthorized crushing plants and enforcing price regulations on essential goods. Regulatory agencies are actively monitoring and penalizing violators to uphold standards.

Looking ahead, exciting initiatives like a cycling competition at Askari Park in Quetta are in the works to engage the community in promoting eco-friendly practices and sustainability.

The recent crackdown on banned plastic bags in Quetta marks a significant step towards a cleaner and greener future. By enforcing strict laws, promoting eco-friendly alternatives, and engaging the public in environmental initiatives, the authorities are paving the way for a more sustainable Quetta. Together, we can all contribute to a healthier planet by reducing plastic pollution and embracing eco-conscious practices.
