Lahore Airport faces significant flight disruptions due to low visibility from dense fog and smog, affecting multiple arrivals and departures.
Lahore, Pakistan – The Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore is currently facing significant disruptions due to extremely low visibility caused by dense fog and smog. Reports indicate that visibility has plummeted to just 200 meters, leading to a ripple effect on flight schedules.
As a result of these challenging weather conditions, several flights arriving in Lahore have been affected. Aviation authorities have confirmed that flight 401, operated by a private airline and traveling from Karachi, was unable to land safely. After circling over Lahore for more than 10 minutes, the flight was ultimately diverted to another airport.
In addition to this, flight 738, which was scheduled to arrive from Jeddah, is now expected to reach Lahore with a delay of approximately 10 hours, pushing its arrival time well past midnight. Similarly, flight 822 from Jeddah is now set to arrive at 7:30 PM, while flight 417 from Dubai has been delayed until 6:00 PM.
Moreover, flight 734, another international service from Jeddah, will now arrive in Lahore with a delay of 3.5 hours, instead of its original arrival time of 10:30 AM. In a more unfortunate turn of events, flight 501 from Sharjah has been canceled altogether.
This situation serves as a reminder of the impact that weather can have on air travel. Passengers are advised to stay updated on their flight statuses and to prepare for potential delays or cancellations. It is always wise to check with airlines for the latest information before heading to the airport.
While the fog and smog may be a temporary inconvenience, it highlights the importance of safety in air travel. Authorities are working diligently to manage the situation, and travelers are encouraged to exercise patience and understanding during these challenging times. Remember, safety always comes first.
