Qamar Abbas, a murder fugitive, was deported from Saudi Arabia and arrested at Lahore airport after evading law enforcement for five years.

In a significant development, the Special Operations Cell of Punjab Police has successfully apprehended a fugitive named Qamar Abbas at Lahore airport. This arrest comes after he was deported from Saudi Arabia, where he had been evading law enforcement for five long years. Qamar Abbas is wanted in connection with a murder case that dates back to 2019, when he shot and killed a woman in the Pahrianwali area. The tragic incident arose from ongoing disputes between the involved parties, particularly over land occupation.

For years, Qamar Abbas managed to escape the clutches of the Mandi Bahauddin police, but his luck ran out when the Special Operations Cell issued a red notice through Interpol. This notice prompted the Saudi Arabian authorities to take action, leading to his arrest and subsequent deportation back to Pakistan. Upon his arrival at Lahore airport, Punjab Police were ready to take him into custody.

A spokesperson for the police revealed that this year alone, a total of 82 fugitives have been arrested from abroad. These individuals are wanted for serious crimes, including robbery, murder, kidnapping, and fraud. The successful capture of Qamar Abbas is a testament to the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies in Pakistan to bring criminals to justice, regardless of where they attempt to hide.

Inspector General (IG) Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Gujranwala and the District Police Officer (DPO) Mandi Bahauddin in securing the arrest of this dangerous fugitive. He emphasized the importance of completing legal proceedings swiftly to ensure that Qamar Abbas faces the appropriate consequences for his actions.

This incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing battle against crime in Pakistan and the commitment of law enforcement to uphold justice. It highlights the importance of international cooperation in tackling crime, as fugitives often believe they can escape justice by fleeing to other countries. The successful deportation and arrest of Qamar Abbas not only brings closure to the victim's family but also sends a strong message to other criminals that they cannot evade the law forever.
