NCHR Investigates Torture Incident, Ensures Justice

The National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) has launched an investigation into a distressing incident involving the torture of a woman by her family members. The incident, captured in a viral video circulating on social media, shows the woman pleading for mercy in the Seraiki language as her nose is cut with a knife. The NCHR has taken swift action by requesting a comprehensive report from the District Police Officer (DPO) of Dera Ghazi Khan to address this grave violation of human rights.

Expressing unwavering dedication to protecting human rights, the NCHR's Commissioner for Punjab has underscored the organization's commitment to swift action in cases of rights violations. The DPO of DG Khan has been instructed to furnish all pertinent information, including the First Information Report (FIR), pertaining to the incident.

During the investigation, the DPO indicated that the video may have originated from either Muzaffargarh or DG Khan and assured that efforts are underway to authenticate the footage to ensure justice is served. It is the duty of the police to uphold the rights and safety of all individuals within their jurisdiction.

According to reports, the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Shah Sadar Deen police station. The victim's sister has identified the alleged perpetrators, including Zafar Lashari, as those responsible for the heinous act of cutting the woman's nose. Legal measures are being pursued against the accused based on the victim's testimony.

The NCHR's proactive stance in investigating and addressing human rights violations is crucial in ensuring justice and protection for all individuals.
