NDMA Warns of Potential Flash Floods in Pakistan

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has raised concerns about potential flash floods in several parts of Pakistan due to anticipated heavy rainfall until 7th July. The areas facing the highest risk include Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Narowal, Murree, Galliyat, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Dir, Swat, Kashmir, and the hill torrent of D.G Khan Rajanpur. Additionally, urban flooding is expected in cities like Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar.

According to the Federal Flood Division's data, River Kabul is forecasted to experience a medium flood level, with a water flow of 93.5 thousand cusecs. While other major rivers are predicted to maintain normal water levels, the NDMA has directed Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs) and local administrations to closely monitor the situation and take necessary precautions to safeguard vulnerable communities.
