Pak Suzuki Motor Company Limited in Pakistan faces a cyberattack leading to a significant data breach, including HR and financial data. The company has initiated measures post-breach. A recent JIT report exposes a massive data breach at NADRA affecting 27 million citizens, emphasizing the critical need for robust cybersecurity measures.

Pak Suzuki Motor Company Limited (PSMCL), a prominent automobile manufacturer in Pakistan, has fallen victim to a cyberattack resulting in a significant data breach. The company disclosed the breach in a filing to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Monday. Initial investigations by PSMCL indicate that the leaked data contains sensitive information pertaining to its Human Resources (HR) and financial departments. However, the full extent of the breach and whether data from other departments was compromised remains unspecified.

In response to the breach, Pak Suzuki has promptly initiated measures to address the situation. They have engaged a security consultant to conduct a comprehensive forensic assessment aimed at determining the scale of the attack and eradicating potential security vulnerabilities across their entire IT infrastructure.

This cyberattack on Pak Suzuki follows closely on the heels of a recent Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report that exposed a massive data breach at the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). The report revealed that personal information of more than 27 million Pakistani citizens was illicitly accessed between 2019 and 2023, with alleged involvement from NADRA offices in Multan, Peshawar, and Karachi. The stolen data is said to have been transferred from Pakistan to Dubai and potentially traded on illicit markets in Argentina and Romania.

In light of these concerning developments, cybersecurity experts emphasize the critical importance of robust security measures to safeguard sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.
