Pakistan's passport department doubles production capacity, addressing delays and enhancing e-passport issuance.
In recent times, many individuals in Pakistan have faced significant delays in obtaining their passports, especially those planning to travel abroad. This issue has caused frustration and anxiety among citizens eager to embark on their journeys. However, the good news is that the government has taken decisive steps to address this problem. The installation of new, modern passport printers has been completed, effectively doubling the printing capacity of the passport department.
According to officials from the Passport and Immigration department, the introduction of ten new printers has significantly enhanced the production capabilities. Previously, the department was able to print only 20,000 passports daily. With the new equipment in place, this number has now surged to an impressive 40,000 passports each day. This remarkable increase is expected to alleviate the backlog that has plagued the system for some time.
Director General of Passports, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, has announced that the improvements do not stop here. He revealed that seven additional modern machines are on their way to the passport headquarters, which will further boost the department's efficiency. Furthermore, two new printers have been acquired specifically for the production of e-passports, which are becoming increasingly popular due to their enhanced security features.
The implementation of these modern printers is a significant step forward for the passport department. It is anticipated that the increased printing capacity will not only help in clearing the existing backlog but also ensure that future applications are processed in a timely manner. This development is a welcome relief for many who have been waiting anxiously for their passports.
The resolution of the passport delay issue is a positive development for travelers in Pakistan. With the government's commitment to improving the passport issuance process, citizens can look forward to a more efficient system that meets their needs. As travel becomes more accessible, it is essential for the authorities to continue investing in technology and resources to ensure that the passport department can keep pace with the growing demand. This proactive approach will undoubtedly enhance the overall experience for those seeking to explore the world beyond Pakistan's borders.
