In a significant stride towards enhancing security in the region, the Perimetric Security System (PSS) has been officially launched at Gwadar Port. This advanced security initiative includes the installation of 675 high-tech cameras, marking a crucial development for the safety of the port and its surrounding areas. The total investment for this project amounts to Rs 252.350 million, reflecting the government's commitment to ensuring a secure environment for both local and international stakeholders.

The PSS is not just a set of cameras; it is a comprehensive system designed to detect potential threats, conduct surveillance, and analyze patterns of attacks. This multipurpose approach aims to create a safe atmosphere in Gwadar Port and the adjacent Free Zones, which are vital for economic growth and development. The Chairman of the Gwadar Port Authority (GPA), Passand Khan, highlighted that this modern security system will streamline the entry and exit of goods and services, thereby facilitating trade and commerce.

Local leaders are optimistic about the impact of this initiative. MPA Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch has expressed his support, encouraging both domestic and foreign investors to consider Gwadar as a prime investment destination. He commended the efforts of the port operators in securing Gwadar Port, which is essential for attracting investment and fostering economic activity.

Moreover, local travel agent Jahangir Sabir emphasized the importance of the security system, particularly in light of Gwadar's vast economic potential. He stated, "The PSS serves as an insurance policy for future development, including the tourism industry, hotel industry, recreational sites, and large shopping plazas." This perspective underscores the belief that a secure environment is foundational for the growth of various sectors in Gwadar.

In addition to the PSS, the Government of Balochistan is making strides with the Gwadar Safe City Project. This initiative is currently in its first phase, which has seen significant advancements, including the establishment of a Project Management Unit (PMU) and the submission of technical and financial feasibility reports. These efforts align with the Gwadar Smart Port City Master Plan 2025, which envisions a modern and secure urban environment.

The Gwadar Safe City Project is estimated to cost Rs 3,325.6 million and is being executed by the Ministry of Homes and Tribal Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology. This project aims to further enhance the safety and security of the region, making it an attractive hub for investment and development.

The launch of the Perimetric Security System at Gwadar Port is a pivotal moment for the region. It not only enhances security but also lays the groundwork for future economic growth. As Gwadar continues to develop, the importance of a robust security framework cannot be overstated. With ongoing projects like the Gwadar Safe City Project, the region is poised to become a beacon of opportunity, attracting investors and fostering a thriving economy.
