PM Shehbaz Sharif Launches Nationwide Electricity Relief Package

In a significant move aimed at alleviating the financial strain on electricity consumers across Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has unveiled the "Electricity Sahulat Package." This initiative, set to last for three months, is designed to provide relief to domestic, commercial, and industrial users of electricity. Domestic consumers will benefit from a flat rate of Rs. 26.7 per unit, which translates to savings ranging from Rs. 11.42 to Rs. 26 per unit, depending on their current tariff slab. This means that families can expect a noticeable reduction in their monthly electricity bills, allowing them to allocate funds to other essential needs.

For industrial users, the package promises to cut electricity costs by Rs. 5.72 to Rs. 15 per unit, resulting in savings of 18% to 37%. This reduction is expected to boost the industrial sector, which is vital for the country’s economic growth. Similarly, commercial consumers will see savings of Rs. 13.46 to Rs. 22 per unit, equating to a 34% to 47% decrease in their electricity expenses. Such significant reductions are likely to enhance the profitability of businesses, enabling them to invest more in their operations and workforce.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that this relief package is not limited to specific regions but will be implemented nationwide, ensuring that all citizens of Pakistan can benefit equally.
