As Muharram-ul-Harram approaches, the City Traffic Police in Rawalpindi has put in place a detailed traffic plan to maintain order and safety during processions. Chief Traffic Officer Taimoor Khan has revealed that a team of over 900 traffic wardens, supervised by inspectors and Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), will be on duty to manage traffic throughout the city.

To avoid any disruptions, strict measures will be enforced, including a prohibition on parking vehicles or pushcarts along the procession routes. The City Traffic Police will also be on the lookout for vehicles with tinted windows, revolving lights, or illegal number plates. Special teams with forklifts will be ready to remove any vehicles causing obstructions.

Furthermore, wardens have been tasked with clearing all encroachments from the procession paths and reporting any suspicious activities or objects. Entry points for vehicles along the procession routes will be blocked using barricades and other barriers to enhance safety. Collaboration between Traffic Police officers and district police will be intensified to ensure the security of mourners, with strict actions promised against any officials found negligent.

During the processions, traffic diversions will be implemented to minimize disruptions, and a dedicated control room at Traffic Headquarters will monitor the situation in real-time. Motorists in need of assistance can reach out to the CTP helpline at 051-9272616 for support.
