Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) takes strict action against gas theft in Pakistan by disconnecting 36 connections and imposing fines, emphasizing fair gas distribution and combating unauthorized usage.

The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has recently taken decisive action against individuals involved in stealing gas in various regions of Pakistan. In a bid to curb this illegal activity, the SNGPL disconnected a total of 36 gas connections and imposed fines amounting to Rs 1.4 million.

The crackdown primarily targeted gas pilferers in Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad. In Lahore and Gujranwala, 14 connections were disconnected, and the offenders were collectively fined Rs 1 million. Similarly, in Multan and Bahawalpur, 16 connections were cut off, while in Sahiwal and Faisalabad, three connections each faced disconnection. Furthermore, in Mardan, three connections were also disconnected due to the direct and illegal use of gas.

Gas theft not only poses a significant risk to public safety but also leads to financial losses for gas companies. By cracking down on this illegal practice, the SNGPL aims to ensure fair distribution of gas resources and prevent unauthorized usage.

The SNGPL's recent actions against gas pilferers underscore the importance of upholding regulations and combating illegal activities that jeopardize the integrity of gas supply systems. Such initiatives play a crucial role in safeguarding public resources and promoting accountability within the energy sector.
