UK And Gulf Nations To Launch 280 Skills Centers In Pakistan

In a significant move aimed at enhancing the employability of Pakistani youth, the Government of the United Kingdom, along with various institutions from the Gulf region, has announced plans to establish 280 skills centers across Pakistan. This initiative is expected to create job opportunities for millions of Pakistanis both domestically and internationally. The focus will be on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), which is crucial for equipping individuals with the skills needed in today’s job market.

A high-level British delegation is currently on a two-day visit to Pakistan to explore potential collaborations in the education sector. The delegation comprises notable figures, including Lord Boateng, members from the House of Lords, and vice-chancellors from prominent universities such as the University of London and the University of Greenwich. Their primary goal is to discuss skill development initiatives tailored to meet the specific needs of various industries in Pakistan.

During their discussions, representatives from the delegation were informed about the priorities set by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Federal Minister for Education Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. They emphasized the importance of providing quality training to a large number of Pakistanis, ensuring that they are well-prepared to contribute effectively not only within Pakistan but also on a global scale.

The establishment of these 280 skills centers is a promising development.
