Pakistan's T20 captain Babar Azam discusses team strategy for upcoming series against New Zealand, focusing on testing combinations and strengthening the batting lineup for the T20 World Cup.

Pakistan's white-ball captain, Babar Azam, shared insights on the team's strategy for the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand. With an eye on the T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies, Babar emphasized the importance of testing different combinations to assess the team's strengths and weaknesses.

During a media interaction, Babar hinted at varying opening pairs for each match against New Zealand, aiming to provide opportunities to young players and evaluate the team's bench strength. He mentioned that the final ideal combination would be decided during the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England.

Addressing Pakistan's historical middle-order challenges, Babar expressed confidence in the inclusion of youngsters like Azam Khan and Muhammad Irfan Khan Naizi, along with established players such as Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, and Imad Wasim. This strategic move aims to bolster the team's batting lineup, extending depth up to the eighth position.

The series will kick off at Rawalpindi's Pindi Cricket Stadium on April 18, followed by matches on April 20 and 21. The action will then shift to Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium for the final two games on April 25 and 27.

With a strong squad in place, Pakistan looks poised to test their mettle against New Zealand and fine-tune their lineup ahead of the T20 World Cup.
