KARACHI: The England cricket team has officially arrived in Multan, gearing up for an exciting three-match Test series against the Pakistan national team, led by Shan Masood. This much-anticipated series is set to kick off on October 7 at the Multan Cricket Stadium, where the two teams will battle it out for supremacy in the longest format of the game.

The first Test will be followed by a second match at the same venue, while the third Test is scheduled to take place from October 24 to 28 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The England squad, under the captaincy of Ben Stokes, will commence their practice sessions on October 4, after taking a well-deserved break on October 2 and 3.

This series is not just a regular encounter; it forms part of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25, making every match crucial for both teams. Pakistan's captain, Shan Masood, expressed optimism about the upcoming series, despite the team's recent disappointing performance, which saw them suffer a whitewash against Bangladesh last month. He stated, "We are looking forward to the challenge and are determined to perform well against a strong England side."

The Pakistan squad includes notable players such as Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi, among others. Left-arm spinner Noman Ali, who has taken 47 wickets in 15 Tests, has been included in the squad, replacing the injured fast bowler Khurram Shahzad. Meanwhile, Kamran Ghulam and Mohammad Ali, who were part of the squad for the Bangladesh Tests, remain in the selectors' plans, emphasizing the importance of consistency and continuity in team selection.

Pakistan's men's red-ball head coach, Gillespie, highlighted the need for rest amid a busy cricket schedule, stating, "With a busy domestic and international cricket schedule, it makes sense to give our players some much-needed rest ahead of the Test series against England." He further added, "We are very much looking forward to the series against England here in Pakistan and cannot wait for it to begin. We are excited about playing in front of our wonderful supporters."

On the other side, the England team boasts a formidable lineup, including players like Harry Brook, Joe Root, and Jack Leach, all of whom are eager to make their mark in this series. The anticipation is palpable as both teams prepare to showcase their skills and compete fiercely for victory.

As the series approaches, cricket fans from both nations are filled with excitement and hope. This series not only represents a clash of talent but also a chance for both teams to solidify their standings in the World Test Championship. With the stage set and the players ready, the upcoming matches promise to deliver thrilling moments and unforgettable cricketing action.
