Pakistan's Finance Minister, Muhammad Aurangzeb, recently revealed that Pakistan has initiated discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a new loan agreement to support its economic reform program. Aurangzeb emphasized the crucial role of the United States as Pakistan's largest trading partner and a consistent supporter of investments.

He highlighted the importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, noting substantial infrastructure investments and the potential for enhanced trade with nations like Vietnam. Additionally, Aurangzeb discussed the privatization program for State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), expressing confidence in the privatization of the national airline, PIA, and the potential extension of privatization to other companies if successful. Talks with potential bidders, particularly concerning PIA, are anticipated to conclude by the end of June.
