Paris Saint-Germain clinches their 12th Ligue 1 title, setting a new French record without playing. With an eye on Champions League success, PSG's dominance in French football is evident.

Paris Saint-Germain has been crowned Ligue 1 champions for the 12th time, setting a new French record. The title was secured without even playing, as closest rivals Monaco suffered a 3-2 defeat against Lyon, giving PSG an insurmountable 12-point lead at the top of the table with three games left.

PSG's journey to the title was almost sealed on Saturday, but they needed a dramatic 95th-minute equalizer to secure a 3-3 draw against Le Havre. However, coach Luis Enrique was confident of their victory, emphasizing the significant lead and superior goal difference over Monaco.

The official confirmation of PSG's triumph paves the way for their upcoming Champions League semi-final clash against Borussia Dortmund in Germany. Monaco's early lead in Lyon through Wissam Ben Yedder was nullified by Alexandre Lacazette and Said Benrahma, with Ben Yedder's second goal being in vain as Lyon's Malick Fofana scored a late winner.

PSG's dominance in French football is evident, winning 10 of their 12 titles in the last 12 seasons following the Qatari takeover in 2011. They are now eyeing a clean sweep of trophies this season, with the French Cup final against Lyon scheduled for May 25 and the French Champions Trophy already secured.

Luis Enrique's side is also aiming to progress past Dortmund and reach the Champions League final on June 1, solidifying their status as a powerhouse in European football.
