Shahzaib Khan's 159 runs lead Pakistan U19 to a 44-run victory over India in the ACC U19 Asia Cup.

DUBAI: In a thrilling encounter at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Shahzaib Khan's remarkable innings of 159 runs propelled Pakistan U19 to a total of 281-7 against their fierce rivals, India, in the ACC U19 Asia Cup. This match, held on Saturday, showcased not only Shahzaib's batting prowess but also a commendable bowling performance from the Pakistani side, leading to a 44-run victory.

Pakistan's decision to bat first after winning the toss proved to be a wise one. The opening pair of Shahzaib Khan and Usman Khan laid a solid foundation with a 130-run partnership, frustrating the Indian bowlers. Usman contributed a valuable 60 runs off 94 balls, hitting six boundaries before being dismissed by Ayush Mhatre. However, it was Shahzaib who stole the show, crafting a magnificent 159 runs from 147 balls, which included five boundaries and an impressive ten sixes.

As the innings progressed, Pakistan faced a few hiccups, losing wickets at crucial moments. After reaching 241 runs, they found themselves in a precarious position at 274-7. Despite the pressure, Shahzaib continued to fight valiantly until he became the last wicket to fall. Umar Zaib and Naveed Ahmed Khan remained unbeaten, helping Pakistan finish their innings at 281-7.

In response, the Indian U19 team struggled from the outset. They lost their opening batsmen, Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, within three balls, leaving them at a shaky 28 runs. The situation worsened as they slipped to 81-4. Nikhil Kumar attempted to stabilize the innings with a top score of 67 runs, but the Pakistani bowlers, led by Ali Raza with three wickets, kept the pressure on. Abdul Subhan and Faham-ul-Haq also played crucial roles, each taking two wickets.

Despite a late surge from Mohamed Enaan, who scored a quick 30 runs, India was ultimately bowled out for 237 runs, falling short of the target by 44 runs. This match not only highlighted the talent within the Pakistan U19 squad but also set the stage for their upcoming challenges in the tournament.

Looking ahead, Pakistan will face the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in their next match on December 2, while India will take on Japan on the same day. The performance displayed by Shahzaib Khan and the team serves as a reminder of the potential and determination present in the young cricketers of Pakistan. As the tournament progresses, fans will be eager to see if Pakistan can maintain this momentum and continue to shine on the international stage.
