CRRC Corporation Limited launches innovative green trains at InnoTrans 2024, promoting sustainable and zero-emission rail transit solutions.
In a significant leap towards sustainable transportation, CRRC Corporation Limited has unveiled two innovative green intelligent trains at InnoTrans 2024 in Berlin, Germany. These groundbreaking products, the CINOVA H2 New Energy Intelligent Intercity Train and the Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit (ART) 2.0, are set to revolutionize rail transit with their zero-emission capabilities and advanced technology.
The CINOVA H2 is a remarkable achievement in zero-carbon mobility. Powered by hydrogen, this train generates electricity through a chemical reaction with oxygen, producing only water as a byproduct. This means that while it operates, it emits absolutely no carbon emissions. According to CRRC's technical expert, Liang Caiguo, each train can travel an estimated 300,000 kilometers annually, cutting down carbon dioxide emissions by about 730 tons each year. This is a significant step towards reducing the environmental impact of rail travel.
One of the standout features of the CINOVA H2 is its impressive speed and capacity. It can reach a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour and can carry over 1,000 passengers in a four-car formation. With a continuous running range of 1,200 kilometers at 160 km/h, it can easily cover the distance from Berlin to London without needing to refuel frequently. Additionally, the train's design incorporates a smart operation and maintenance system that enhances safety and reduces costs.
On the other hand, the ART 2.0 represents a harmonious blend of eco-innovation and aesthetic appeal. Dressed in a vibrant "Green Peacock" livery, it combines green technology with beautiful design. This train is designed for urban transportation, catering to medium-to-low passenger volumes. It uses rubber wheels and virtual tracks, which means it does not require traditional tracks or overhead wires, significantly lowering construction and maintenance costs.
Moreover, the ART 2.0 is versatile in its power sources, capable of using fast-charging lithium batteries, supercapacitors, hydrogen energy, and overhead catenary systems. This flexibility allows it to adapt to various operational needs. With a maximum driving range of 500 kilometers and the ability to add 20 kilometers of range in just 5 minutes, it is a practical solution for modern urban transit.
Safety is a top priority for both trains. The ART 2.0 features fully autonomous driving capabilities, ensuring a safe and reliable journey for passengers. With a proven track record in China, where nine ART lines have collectively traveled over 15 million kilometers, the system has already accommodated more than 35 million passengers while significantly reducing carbon emissions.
CRRC's commitment to sustainable development is evident in its vision to create a global ecosystem where its innovative solutions are widely adopted. As the world moves towards greener technologies, the introduction of the CINOVA H2 and ART 2.0 trains marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of rail transit. These advancements not only promise to enhance the travel experience for passengers but also contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future for transportation.
