Uber introduces an AI assistant to help drivers transition to electric vehicles, pledging $800 million for sustainability by 2040.

Currently, approximately 180,000 Uber drivers in North America and Europe are making the switch to electric vehicles each month. According to CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, "Uber drivers are adopting EVs five times faster than the average motorist in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. In London, nearly 30 percent of all miles driven on Uber are now electric." This statistic highlights the growing trend among drivers to embrace more sustainable transportation options.
In addition to the AI assistant, Uber is launching a mentorship program that connects experienced EV drivers with those who are considering making the switch. This initiative aims to provide support and guidance to new EV drivers, helping them navigate their journey towards sustainability. Moreover, Uber is rewarding top merchants on its food delivery platform with $50,000 to help fund their own sustainability initiatives, further promoting eco-friendly practices within the community.

Customers in London will have the opportunity to try out the Lotus Eletre, while those in Los Angeles, Miami, and Dallas can reserve a ride in a Rivian R1.
