Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini inaugurates Panchkula Book Fair, promoting literacy and cultural awareness through books and libraries.

In a significant move to promote literacy and cultural awareness, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini inaugurated the third Panchkula Book Fair at the Indradhanush Auditorium in Panchkula. This event, held on November 4, aims to celebrate the rich heritage and knowledge encapsulated in books. The Chief Minister also inaugurated several Sardar Patel libraries in various villages through video conferencing, emphasizing the importance of reading and education in today’s society.

During the inauguration, Saini remarked, “Our culture and heritage are available in books. The darkness of life can be dispelled only with the light of knowledge.” His words resonate with the idea that books are not just sources of information but also gateways to understanding our past and shaping our future. The Chief Minister highlighted the Prime Minister’s belief that “where there is darkness, it is not forbidden to light a lamp,” encouraging everyone to read at least one book to illuminate their minds.

The book fair showcases thousands of books in various languages, catering to diverse interests. Saini noted the large crowd present, which reflects the growing appreciation for literature in the community. He stated, “Anyone with an interest in a particular subject can find valuable knowledge in the wide selection available at this fair.” This sentiment underscores the role of books in personal and academic growth.

Moreover, the Chief Minister paid tribute to Mata Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, who is revered in schools and libraries. He stressed that learning under the guidance of teachers and utilizing library resources allows individuals to gain in-depth knowledge across various subjects. In a commendable effort, the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) has established over 25 libraries in the past three years through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, with three more libraries inaugurated recently.

Saini also addressed the youth, stating that the BJP government is committed to providing 200,000 jobs. He emphasized the importance of libraries in preparing for competitive examinations, noting that district-level libraries are already operational and that the government is upgrading digital libraries in colleges and schools. “The government is also opening libraries in villages, equipped with computer facilities,” he added, highlighting the accessibility of information for all.

In an era where information is at our fingertips, Saini pointed out that online resources and e-books are being made available, allowing the youth to access information about their subjects conveniently. He proudly mentioned that for the past decade, the youth in Haryana have been securing jobs without the need for bribes or recommendations, showcasing a shift towards merit-based opportunities. “Now, instead of seeking recommendations, the youth are preparing for their future by utilizing library resources,” he concluded.

The Panchkula Book Fair serves as a reminder of the vital role that books play in our lives. They are not merely collections of pages but are vessels of knowledge that can enlighten minds and inspire generations. As we embrace the digital age, the commitment to fostering a reading culture and providing access to libraries is more important than ever. By investing in education and literacy, we pave the way for a brighter future for our youth and society as a whole.
