KSrelief enhances healthcare in Yemen and globally through volunteer surgery programs and mobile clinics, addressing urgent medical needs.
Saudi Arabia's KSrelief, a prominent aid agency, has been making significant strides in providing voluntary medical services across the globe. This initiative is part of their ongoing commitment to assist those in need, particularly in regions facing health crises. Recently, KSrelief has focused its efforts in Yemen, where the healthcare system has been severely impacted by ongoing conflicts and humanitarian challenges.
In Al-Ghaydah, located in the Al-Mahrah Governorate of Yemen, KSrelief has been actively operating the Kidney Dialysis Center. Here, they have provided essential medical services to numerous patients. A total of 126 patients received care, with 54 individuals undergoing 446 scheduled dialysis sessions, alongside six emergency sessions. The demographic breakdown revealed that 46 percent of the patients were male, while 54 percent were female. Notably, 16 percent of these patients were displaced individuals, highlighting the urgent need for medical assistance in the region.
Additionally, KSrelief has deployed mobile medical clinics in Yemen’s Harad district, situated in the Hajjah Governorate. From September 11 to 17, 2024, these clinics served 226 beneficiaries. The clinics offered a range of services, treating 113 patients at the epidemic disease control clinic, 63 at the emergency clinic, 33 at the internal medicine clinic, and 15 at the reproductive health clinic. Furthermore, nursing services were accessed by 61 individuals, and waste disposal activities were conducted to maintain hygiene and safety. The surgery and dressing clinic also treated seven beneficiaries, while medications were dispensed to 217 patients.
Beyond Yemen, KSrelief's efforts extended to San Salvador, El Salvador, where a voluntary medical project for vascular surgery and interventional catheterization concluded recently. During this campaign, the medical team successfully performed 45 specialized operations, showcasing the dedication and expertise of the eight volunteers from various medical specialties who participated.
In Medan, Indonesia, Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, the supervisor-general of KSrelief, announced the implementation of a voluntary open-heart surgery project for adults. This initiative, which ran from October 1 to 8, 2024, involved 15 volunteers from diverse medical backgrounds. Since the project's inception, the medical team has completed three open-heart operations, further demonstrating KSrelief's commitment to addressing critical health needs.
KSrelief's ongoing volunteer surgery program exemplifies the power of humanitarian aid in transforming lives. By providing essential medical services in areas that are often overlooked, they not only address immediate health concerns but also contribute to the long-term well-being of communities. As the world continues to face various challenges, the efforts of organizations like KSrelief remind us of the importance of compassion and support for those in need.
