A significant traffic accident on East Coast Parkway in Singapore involved nine vehicles, blocking two lanes and causing major congestion.

On the afternoon of October 3, a significant traffic accident occurred on the East Coast Parkway (ECP) in Singapore, involving approximately nine vehicles. This unfortunate incident led to a massive pile-up that blocked two lanes of the expressway, causing a traffic jam that extended for about one kilometer. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the scene around 5:20 PM, responding promptly to the road traffic accident that took place towards Changi Airport, just after the Fort Road exit.

According to a traffic update provided by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) at 6:33 PM, the accident transpired before the Tanjong Katong Road exit on the ECP. As a result, motorists were advised to steer clear of lanes one and two of the expressway to avoid further delays. The situation was exacerbated by the sight of two vehicles precariously stacked on top of each other, as captured in videos and images that circulated on social media.

Among the vehicles involved were several taxis, and ComfortDelGro, a major taxi operator, confirmed that one of its cabs was part of the pile-up. A spokesperson for the company stated, "The welfare of our cabbies is our top priority; we are in contact and are providing support as needed." This highlights the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of drivers involved in such incidents.

Traffic accidents can be distressing not only for those directly involved but also for other road users who may be caught in the resulting congestion. It serves as a reminder of the need for caution while driving, especially in busy areas. As we navigate our daily commutes, it is crucial to remain vigilant and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such unfortunate events from occurring in the future.
