ISLAMABAD - Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan has arrived in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, for a significant three-day visit that began on Saturday evening. This visit is an important step in strengthening the relationship between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, two countries that are working closely together to enhance their economic ties.

Upon his arrival at Tashkent International Airport, Jam Kamal Khan was warmly welcomed by Gulamov Shohrux Xasanovich, the Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade. He was also greeted by Ahmad Farooq, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan. This warm reception highlights the importance of this visit and the mutual respect between the two nations.

During his stay, the minister will participate in the 9th Session of the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Inter-Governmental Commission (IGC) on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation. This session is scheduled to take place on November 4, 2024, and will be co-chaired by Jam Kamal Khan and Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov. The agenda for this session is packed with important discussions, including strategic meetings with high-ranking Uzbek officials such as Deputy Prime Minister Jamshed Khujaev and Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov. These discussions will focus on key projects related to trade, investment, and logistics, which are crucial for both countries.

Additionally, the visit will feature the 4th Uzbekistan-Pakistan Business Forum, where 33 Pakistani business delegates from various sectors will engage in B2B meetings. These meetings are designed to foster new partnerships and enhance trade opportunities between the two nations. The presence of such a diverse group of business representatives underscores the commitment of both countries to explore new avenues for economic collaboration.
