The Federal Board of Revenue registers over 21,000 retailers in Pakistan under the Tajir Dost Scheme, aiming to formalize the retail sector, promote tax compliance, and create a transparent business environment.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has reported that as of 30 May, a total of 21,870 retailers in Pakistan have successfully registered under the Tajir Dost Scheme. This initiative aims to formalize the retail sector and bring more businesses into the tax net, promoting transparency and compliance.

Among the registered retailers, 17,569 chose to enroll through the Tajir Dost scheme, while 4,301 opted for alternative registration methods. The data breakdown reveals that Karachi leads with 5,512 registered retailers, followed by Lahore with 6,706, and Islamabad with 1,927. Other cities such as Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Quetta, and various locations across the country have also seen significant participation in the registration process.

The Tajir Dost Scheme offers benefits to retailers, including access to formal financial services, protection of their rights, and opportunities for growth. By encouraging registration and compliance, the FBR aims to create a more inclusive and transparent business environment in Pakistan.

The successful registration of over 21,000 retailers under the Tajir Dost Scheme marks a positive step towards formalizing the retail sector in Pakistan. This initiative not only benefits individual businesses but also contributes to the overall economic development of the country. As more retailers join the scheme, the hope is to see increased tax compliance, improved business practices, and a thriving retail industry.
