Governor Kundi emphasizes the business community's role in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's economic growth and plans to address federal issues.
In recent times, the economic landscape of Pakistan has been a topic of significant discussion, particularly regarding the vital contributions of the business community and farmers. These sectors play a crucial role in driving the country's economic growth, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where challenges abound. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has taken a proactive stance in addressing these issues, recognizing the importance of collaboration between the government and the business sector.
During a dinner held in honor of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Governor Kundi emphasized the need for a united front to tackle the hurdles faced by local businesses. Leading the delegation were prominent figures such as Group Leader Ghazanfar Bilour and President Fazal Muqeem, who brought forth various concerns regarding federal departments. Kundi assured them, stating, "I will advocate for your issues as your lawyer," highlighting his commitment to representing the interests of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's residents.
The Governor's approach is not merely rhetorical; he plans to engage directly with relevant authorities to resolve pressing federal issues. With the support of Ahmad Karim Kundi, the Parliamentary Leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party, he aims to ensure that the rights of the business community are upheld in the KP Assembly. This collaborative effort is crucial, especially as Federal Minister Musadiq Malik is expected to visit Peshawar soon to discuss tax-related challenges and CNG issues.
Moreover, Kundi proposed a meeting between customs officials and business representatives to foster a cooperative environment for addressing shared challenges. He underscored the importance of tourism in boosting the province's economy and expressed his commitment to facilitating the entry of foreign traders. Plans are underway to discuss the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) with officials from the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs, which is a significant step towards easing business operations.
Addressing concerns about mismanagement, Kundi urged the provincial government to refrain from using security as a pretext for inefficiencies. He stressed the necessity of increasing exports and announced his intention to convene a meeting of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in Peshawar, as the province's interests have often been overlooked.
Highlighting the Chashma Lift Canal project, which is financed by Islamic banks, Kundi shared his efforts to strengthen ties between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa traders and Saudi investors, especially with a Saudi delegation set to visit next month. He also pointed out the importance of trade with Central Asia and called for initiatives to enhance business access through the Wakhan Corridor. Plans are in motion for the Governor of Tajikistan’s Khatlon Province to visit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to explore potential business opportunities.
In addition to economic initiatives, Kundi announced efforts to expand health facilities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, similar to those available in Sindh and Punjab. This initiative will begin with discussions among provincial chief secretaries, aiming to improve healthcare access for residents.
The business community has expressed appreciation for Governor Kundi's dedication and efforts to address their concerns. His proactive measures and commitment to improving the economic landscape of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are commendable. As the province navigates its economic challenges, the collaboration between the government and the business sector will be pivotal in fostering growth and prosperity. The future looks promising, provided that these initiatives are implemented effectively, paving the way for a more robust economic environment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
