In a bid to enhance cotton production in Punjab, Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo has announced the establishment of 62 Farmers' Facilitation Centers in key cotton-growing areas. These centers aim to provide quality pesticides, spray machinery, and other materials at subsidized rates, supporting local farmers in their agricultural endeavors.

A recent review meeting at Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture, Multan, focused on strategies to improve cotton cultivation in the region. Secretary Sahoo highlighted the significance of these centers in boosting agricultural productivity, especially as this year's cotton cultivation spans 3.4 million acres, with a target of reaching 6.5 million bales set by the Federal government.

As the next three months are crucial for effective cotton crop management, various actions are being emphasized. These include enhancing field operations, maintaining detailed farmer records, monitoring pesticide sales, offering crop management guidance, conducting pest scouting, and utilizing digital tools for staff monitoring. Additionally, weather-based advisories and expert recommendations will be crucial in ensuring timely dissemination of cotton advisories to farmers.

Secretary Sahoo stressed the importance of accountability and vigilance among agricultural officers, warning against negligence in farmer guidance. Secretary Agriculture South Punjab, Saqib Ali Ateel, underlined the necessity of adhering to technical advisories to meet production targets. The meeting, attended by key officials from various departments, focused on strategies to enhance cotton production in the region.

The launch of Farmers' Facilitation Centers and the strategic focus on improving cotton production in Punjab underscore the commitment of agricultural authorities to support local farmers and achieve production targets. By providing essential resources, guidance, and technical support, these initiatives aim to boost agricultural productivity and contribute to the growth of the cotton industry in the region.
