Chinese company Taavun plans to invest in Pakistan's smartphone manufacturing sector, aligning with the government's efforts to boost IT industry and exports. Minister Fatima emphasizes attracting FDI and supporting the private sector for economic growth.

Chinese company Taavun (Pvt) Limited has announced its decision to invest in Pakistan by setting up a manufacturing unit for producing affordable smartphones equipped with the latest technology. The company's CEO, Shahbaz Khan, along with Wateen's CEO Adil Rashid, recently met with Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, to explore the investment opportunities in Pakistan's IT and Telecom sector.

During the meeting, Minister Fatima emphasized the government's commitment to attracting Foreign Direct Investment and supporting the private sector to boost exports. She also acknowledged the significant potential of the youth population in driving economic growth and mentioned ongoing initiatives for their skill development.

The investment proposal from Taavun (Pvt) Limited aligns with the government's efforts to enhance the country's technological capabilities and create job opportunities in the rapidly evolving IT industry. With a focus on innovation and affordability, the manufacturing of low-cost smartphones in Pakistan could not only cater to the domestic market but also open doors for export opportunities.
