HYBE announces BTS reunion is delayed until 2026, focusing on solo projects during military service.
BTS, the globally renowned boy band, has captured the hearts of millions around the world. Fans have been eagerly anticipating the group's reunion since they began their military service. However, recent statements from HYBE, the group's parent company, suggest that the wait may be longer than expected. During a recent earnings call, HYBE's CFO, Lee Kyung Joon, indicated that a full comeback for BTS might not occur until 2026, pushing back earlier expectations of a reunion in 2025.
On November 5, 2023, AllKPop reported on the earnings call where Lee discussed the future activities of the seven-member group, which includes Jimin, Jin, Jungkook, J-Hope, RM, Suga, and V. He stated, "We are currently in discussions with the members about activities in 2026," which clearly suggests that fans will have to wait a bit longer for the much-anticipated reunion.
In addition to the reunion news, Lee also touched on the solo projects that BTS members have been working on during their military service. This strategy aims to keep fans engaged while the members are away. He mentioned, "While a full group comeback would generate considerable revenue, we expect it will not account for as high a share of our earnings as in the past, as our other artists and new ventures are also contributing to growth." This indicates that HYBE is diversifying its portfolio and focusing on other artists as well.
Since the release of their anthology album in June 2022, BTS has shifted its focus to individual projects. The eldest member, Jin, began his mandatory military service in December 2022, marking the start of the group's military hiatus. Initially, BigHit Music had expressed hopes for a full group reunion by 2025, but they also cautioned that it was too early to set a definitive date.
As of now, Jin and J-Hope, both 31 years old, have completed their military service, leaving fans eagerly awaiting the return of the remaining five members. The anticipation is palpable, and while the news of a delayed reunion may be disappointing, it also highlights the importance of individual growth and projects within the group.
While the news from HYBE may not be what fans were hoping for, it is essential to remember that the members of BTS are still actively working on their careers, both as a group and individually. This period of solo projects not only allows them to explore their artistic capabilities but also keeps the spirit of BTS alive in the hearts of their fans. As we look forward to 2026, it is crucial to support the members in their individual journeys, as they continue to inspire and entertain us all.
