KARACHI: In a significant development for the pharmaceutical community, Abdul Samad Memon, popularly known as Budhani, has been elected unopposed as the Chairman of the Pakistan Chemists and Druggists Association (PCDA) for the 2024-2026 term. This election marks a pivotal moment for the association, which plays a crucial role in advocating for the rights and interests of chemists and druggists across the nation.
The announcement was made by the PCDA Election Committee after a smooth and transparent election process. Such unopposed elections reflect a strong consensus among the members, indicating their trust in the leadership. Alongside Budhani, Arshad Mehmood Awan from Islamabad has been elected as the Senior Vice Chairman, while Ashfaq Mehmood from Peshawar will serve as the Vice Chairman for the next two years.
The election, held on a Monday, was notable not only for the leadership positions but also for the unopposed selection of all Central Executive Committee (CEC) members. This includes representatives from various regions, ensuring a diverse and inclusive leadership structure. From Karachi, Sobia Saif, Kashif Rehman, Ashraf Zaib, Zulfiqar Ali Hakim, and Amir Madni have been appointed as CEC members. Additionally, Faheem Uddin from Quetta, Amjad Murad from Sukkur, and Ali Bawani, along with Miss Farwa Baig from Mirpur Khas, will also join the committee.
Moreover, the representation from Peshawar is strong, with Bilal Ahmed, Ibad ur Rehman, Obaidullah, Aslam Pervaiz, M Shakir Siddiqui, and Noor Zaman being elected unopposed to the CEC. This broad representation from across the country highlights the unity and collective vision of the PCDA members.
