Former MQM lawmaker Ali Raza Abidi's murder case concludes with ATC sentencing four individuals to life imprisonment. The tragic incident in 2018 marked the end of a turbulent chapter in his political career.

Former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lawmaker Ali Raza Abidi's murder case has reached a verdict, with an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) sentencing four individuals to life imprisonment for his killing. The tragic incident occurred in 2018 when Abidi was fatally shot outside his residence in the Khayaban-e-Ghazi neighborhood of Defence Housing Authority. Despite efforts to save him at PNS Shifa Hospital, Abidi succumbed to his injuries. Post-mortem examination revealed he suffered four gunshot wounds during the attack.

Abidi, who was elected as an MNA on the MQM's ticket in the 2013 general elections, later distanced himself from the party due to internal conflicts. His resignation from the National Assembly in November 2017 came after disagreements over electoral alliances. Despite briefly rejoining the MQM-P, Abidi eventually left the party in September 2018. His death marked the end of a turbulent chapter in his political career.

The ATC's decision to convict the perpetrators and sentence them to life imprisonment, along with imposing fines, brings a sense of closure to the tragic episode that shook the political landscape. Justice has been served, albeit belatedly, in the case of Ali Raza Abidi's untimely demise.
