Chief Minister Bugti praises World Bank's 10-year development program in Balochistan, emphasizing key sector reforms and collaboration for sustainable growth.

Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, recently lauded the World Bank's extensive 10-year development program, foreseeing a positive transformation in the region. In a meeting with a delegation led by the World Bank's Director, Naji Bin Hassine, Bugti appreciated the World Bank's commitment to long-term initiatives aimed at uplifting Balochistan. He acknowledged the challenges faced in delivering essential services to the widely scattered population in remote areas and stressed the necessity of a sustainable strategy through collaboration with international and national entities and donors.

Emphasizing the government's dedication to reforming key sectors such as education, healthcare, governance, energy, and climate change, Bugti highlighted the ongoing efforts to tackle electricity shortages by transitioning agricultural tube wells to solar power. He underlined the significance of provinces harnessing their available resources post the 18th Amendment and hinted at the potential of soft loans for infrastructure and development ventures in isolated regions.

Bugti also expressed concerns regarding the high number of out-of-school children, the vast distances between schools and communities, and the inadequate communication infrastructure. Initiatives are in progress to enhance school accessibility and provide meals to students. The World Bank delegation engaged in discussions about their support projects in Balochistan, particularly focusing on advancements in the mineral, mines, fisheries, agriculture sectors, and rehabilitation endeavors in flood-affected zones.

Appreciating Bugti's endeavors to promote good governance in Balochistan, the World Bank delegation reiterated their commitment to bolstering international and national investments across diverse sectors in the province.

The collaboration between the Balochistan government and the World Bank signifies a promising future for the region, with sustainable development at its core. Bugti's proactive approach towards addressing challenges and fostering growth reflects a shared vision for a prosperous and inclusive Balochistan.
