Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to Declare New Year

Residents of Peshawar are eagerly looking forward to the commencement of the new Islamic year 1446. The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has announced a public holiday across the province to mark the beginning of the new year as per the Hijri calendar. The Chief Secretary has issued a notification indicating that the holiday on the first day of Muharram will be determined based on the sighting of the moon.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to meet on July 6 to observe the crescent of the new year. Maulana Muhammad Abdul Khabir will officially declare the start of the new Islamic year following this meeting. Zonal committee gatherings will also occur at their respective headquarters, with the Ruet Hilal Committee making the official announcement of the new year's commencement.

With preparations underway for Muharram, both federal and provincial authorities have implemented special security measures to maintain law and order during the initial month, especially in anticipation of the upcoming processions.
