The Center for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI) recently conducted a comprehensive training program for journalists in Punjab, focusing on improving their reporting abilities in crucial areas such as human rights, fundamental freedoms, and democratic processes. The primary objective of this initiative was to provide journalists with the necessary tools to report accurately, independently, and inclusively, while prioritizing their safety.

The five-day training program took place in Islamabad and drew journalists from various parts of Punjab, including Faisalabad, Khanewal, Rawalpindi, and Bahawalpur. The sessions were led by a team of experienced trainers who shared valuable insights into different facets of journalism in Pakistan through engaging discussions and activities.

A key aspect of the training was the focus on bridging the gap between traditional and modern journalism practices. Trainers highlighted the importance of upholding a free and expressive media environment in the country, as well as utilizing technologies like AI and Machine Learning for more effective reporting.

Participants were reminded of their journalistic responsibilities, emphasizing the significance of unbiased reporting, utilizing digital tools for modern journalism, and combating misinformation. The training also stressed the importance of data collection and verification in enhancing the credibility of journalistic work.

The training program aimed to empower journalists to excel in their careers, adapt to the changing media landscape, and foster a more inclusive environment within the journalism field.
