Dr. Aslam Ansari, a celebrated figure in Urdu literature, has passed away at the age of 85. With a career spanning over fifty years, Dr. Ansari authored nearly 40 books, covering poetry, prose, criticism, and novels. His literary prowess was not only recognized through his writings but also through numerous accolades, including the prestigious Pride of Performance award in 2022.
Born on April 30, 1939, in the Bheeti Sarai area near Pak Gate in Multan, Dr. Ansari's journey in education began after he earned his Master's degree in Urdu from Oriental College Lahore in 1962. He later completed his Master's in Persian from Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan in 1985 and achieved his Ph.D. in 1998. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to teaching, serving in various cities such as Multan, Bahawalpur, and Lahore.
Dr. Ansari's literary contributions include five poetry compilations in Urdu and Persian, as well as a novel in Seraiki titled "Baidi Wich Darya," which translates to "River in the Boat." His work on Iqbaliyaat earned him the National Bank Award and the Iqbal Award, further solidifying his status as a literary giant. His poem, "Gautam Sey Mukalma" (Conversation with Gautam), along with many others, has touched the hearts of readers across Pakistan and beyond.
