Former SHO and 8 police officials in Gujar Khan suspected of embezzling approximately Rs. 150 million in foreign and local currency from FIA's Zonal Office. CPO Rawalpindi has suspended the accused individuals and initiated an investigation to ensure accountability and recover the stolen funds.

Gujar Khan recently made headlines as former SHO of Mandra police and 8 other police officials found themselves entangled in a case of suspected embezzlement. The issue arose when a complaint was filed by a Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) official regarding the disappearance of foreign and local currency that had been recovered from thieves. The incident occurred at the FIA's Zonal Office in Islamabad's G-13/3 sector on May 31.

The complaint led to the lodging of an FIR by Mandra police, based on the FIA's Anti-Corruption Circle (ACC) Police Station SHO's report. It was revealed that approximately Rs. 150 million in foreign and local currency had gone missing from the FIA's Zonal Office malkhana in G-13. The theft was uncovered on June 1, 2024, prompting the initiation of a case.

On the night of June 1, Mandra police, in collaboration with private individuals, intercepted a black car at the Mandra toll plaza after 11 p.m. The stolen money was recovered from the vehicle, with the CCTV cameras at the toll plaza capturing the entire scene. SHO Mandra Malik Yasir Awan, accompanied by his driver and a constable, arrived at the location in a private vehicle and took charge of the accused individuals and the vehicle.

The FIA official alleged that Mandra police only reported seizing Rs. 47.9 million on June 1, 2024, instead of the actual Rs. 150 million. It was further claimed that over Rs. 100 million of the currency had been misappropriated by the police officials. The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, and the CPO Rawalpindi has acted against the accused individuals by suspending them and placing them in custody.

Inspector Malik Nazir Ahmed has been appointed as the replacement for the suspended SHO of Mandra police station, Inspector Yasir. The investigation is ongoing to ensure the complete recovery of the embezzled funds and to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.

The alleged embezzlement case involving police officials in Gujar Khan has raised concerns about the misuse of authority and public trust. It serves as a reminder of the importance of transparency and accountability in law enforcement agencies. As the investigation progresses, efforts are being made to restore the stolen funds and uphold justice. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
