Gilgit-Baltistan Security Forces Neutralize Notorious Terrorist

In a recent security operation in Diamer, Gilgit-Baltistan, a significant terrorist threat was neutralized by Pakistan's security forces. The operation, led by the Interior Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, resulted in the elimination of a notorious terrorist and injuries to seven individuals, including the terrorist's associate. This development comes as part of Pakistan's intensified efforts to combat terrorism nationwide, particularly in response to the escalating militant threat in the region.

The targeted terrorist, identified as Shah Faisal, was the mastermind behind a deadly bus attack in Chilas last December, which claimed multiple lives and caused numerous injuries. The operation, which took place in the Darel district of Gilgit-Baltistan, also left Zahidullah, an associate of the terrorist, wounded. Despite the intense gun battle during the operation, one terrorist managed to escape and is currently being pursued by security forces.

Following the bus attack in Chilas, authorities apprehended six suspects connected to the incident, which was classified as an act of terrorism. In response to the heightened security concerns, measures have been implemented along the Karakoram Highway and in Gilgit city, including increased surveillance at entry and exit points. As a precautionary step, temporary closures of the Karakoram Highway and Babusar Road have been enforced to ensure public safety.

Moreover, the health department in Gilgit-Baltistan has declared an emergency in all healthcare facilities across the district. Medical staff have been instructed to remain on duty, ensuring the availability of essential medicines and ambulances to respond effectively to any emergencies. These emergency measures, coupled with the heightened security alert, aim to protect the region and prevent further acts of violence.
