The Lahore traffic police has issued 2.8 million fine tickets for various violations in the first six months of 2024, emphasizing the importance of following traffic rules for road safety. Efforts include enforcing helmet-wearing, valid licensing, and proper vehicle registration.

In the first six months of 2024, the Lahore traffic police has been actively enforcing traffic regulations, issuing a total of 2.8 million fine tickets for various violations. The Chief Traffic Officer of Lahore revealed that a significant portion of these tickets, approximately 800,000, were related to lane and stop line violations, emphasizing the importance of following traffic rules to ensure road safety.

Motorcyclists were also a key focus of enforcement efforts, with 220,000 tickets issued for not wearing helmets, highlighting the importance of wearing protective gear while riding. Moreover, 274,000 tickets were handed out to individuals driving vehicles or motorcycles without a valid license, stressing the necessity of proper licensing to operate a vehicle on the roads.

Another common violation observed was driving without proper registration, with 143,390 individuals found driving with 'applied for registration' (AFR) or without number plates, underscoring the significance of ensuring vehicles are legally registered and identifiable.

Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar commended the efforts of traffic police offices across all districts of the province in assisting citizens with obtaining driving licenses and providing essential services related to road safety.

A recent one-day performance report from Punjab Traffic Police highlighted key achievements, including the issuance of 1,340 driving licenses to citizens, enforcement actions against vehicles emitting excessive smoke, and the collection of fines amounting to Rs2.5 million for various traffic violations, demonstrating the commitment to upholding traffic laws.

Since the initiation of a special campaign on February 26, over 1.43 million citizens have been issued driving licenses, indicating a positive step towards enhancing road safety. Additionally, more than 24,600 vehicles were penalized for causing pollution, resulting in fines totaling Rs1.72 billion being deposited in the national treasury, showcasing the enforcement of environmental regulations alongside traffic rules.

The rigorous enforcement efforts by the Lahore traffic police reflect a commitment to ensuring road safety and upholding traffic regulations for the well-being of all citizens.
