In a commendable effort to tackle the waste management issue, the district government departments and waste management companies in Lahore have effectively disposed of 1.36 million tons of waste as part of their waste management plan. The operational report for the initial two days highlighted the disposal of 86,000 tons of waste during continuous cleaning operations. Additionally, local governments contributed by managing to dispose of 50,000 tons of waste within the same timeframe.
Specifically, the Lahore Waste Management Company took charge of 18,500 tons of waste on the second day of operations. Over the course of two days, more than 50,000 workers actively participated in the cleaning operations. The waste management companies addressed 21,000 complaints, while local governments resolved 8,000 complaints.
On the third day of Eid, a zero waste operation was scheduled, as announced by Secretary of local government, Shakil Ahmad Mian. He emphasized that the central control room remained functional on the third day to ensure the efficient execution of the waste management plan.
