Armed men attacked a construction camp in Musakhail, Balochistan, raising security concerns. No labourers were abducted, and safety measures are enhanced.
In a shocking incident that unfolded in the Musakhail district of Balochistan, armed men launched a midnight attack on a construction camp belonging to a private company. This brazen assault, which took place between the night of September 28 and 29, has raised serious concerns about security in the region.
According to police reports, the attackers, armed with automatic weapons, stormed the camp located in the Sewa Ragh area of Durg Tehsil. They overpowered the labourers present, ransacked the camp, and set fire to several pieces of machinery, including seven bulldozers and a pick-up van. Loralai Commissioner Saadat Hussain confirmed that more than a dozen terrorists were involved in the operation, which left the camp in ruins.
The construction company was engaged in building a road that connects to the gas company of Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) in the Durg area. At the time of the attack, there were 17 labourers and other staff members present at the camp. However, contrary to some media reports, Commissioner Hussain clarified that there was no abduction of the labourers, nor was there an attack on the gas company’s camp. He emphasized that the Frontier Corps is providing security to the gas company’s facilities, which are located at a distance from the construction camp.
Deputy Commissioner Jumma Dad Khan Mandokhail also addressed the rumors surrounding the kidnapping of the labourers, assuring the public that all workers involved in the road construction are safe. In response to the attack, local authorities have increased security measures in the area, deploying additional personnel to ensure the safety of the camp and its workers.
This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges faced by construction companies operating in remote areas of Balochistan. The attack not only disrupts vital infrastructure projects but also instills fear among workers and their families. It is crucial for the government and security forces to take decisive action to protect these workers and restore a sense of safety in the region.
As the situation develops, it is essential for the local administration to remain vigilant and proactive in safeguarding the interests of both the workers and the companies involved. The community must come together to support efforts aimed at enhancing security and ensuring that such violent acts do not deter progress and development in Balochistan.
