NADRA is set to broaden its population data registration coverage to 11,777 union councils in Pakistan, introducing mobile teams for inclusivity and efficiency in serving citizens.

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is set to significantly broaden its population data registration coverage across Pakistan. The Minister for Parliamentary Services and Law and Justice revealed this plan to the Upper House of the Parliament. NADRA aims to extend its services to nearly 11,777 union councils (UCs) nationwide, starting with 1150 UCs in major urban areas before encompassing all UCs throughout the country, including the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

Over the next 2.5 years, NADRA will establish small centers in all 11,777 UCs to provide essential services such as child registration certificate (CRC) – Form B, Cancellation of NIC due to death (CD), and NIC reprint or replacement. To ensure accessibility for disabled and elderly individuals, NADRA has introduced mobile teams equipped with cameras, laptops, and biometric devices. These teams will facilitate data registration for those who face challenges in reaching NADRA offices.

The mobile team initiative is currently undergoing testing in various districts, with a focus on urban areas with higher populations. The ultimate objective is to extend coverage to semi-urban and hard-to-reach areas. Senator Fawzia Arshad stressed the significance of this expansion to the UC level for accurate data registration and monitoring of foreign nationals to prevent illegal activities.

Senator Danesh Kumar emphasized the importance of NADRA meeting the 2.5-year deadline to cover all 11,777 UCs. He also sought clarification on the deployment locations of NADRA's mobile teams for facilitating data registration for elderly and disabled individuals.

NADRA's initiative to expand its population data registration coverage to 11,777 union councils nationwide marks a significant step towards ensuring accurate data registration and enhancing accessibility for all citizens. The introduction of mobile teams demonstrates a commitment to inclusivity and efficiency in serving the population. This expansion is crucial for monitoring and managing demographic information effectively, contributing to national security and governance.
