PDF Chairman Bilal Sethi calls on philanthropists to support the poor during inflation, highlighting a Free Medical Camp in Peshawar.
The economic landscape in Pakistan has been increasingly challenging, particularly for the underprivileged segments of society. With soaring inflation rates, many families are struggling to make ends meet, and the situation has become dire for those living in poverty. In light of these circumstances, the Chairman of the Pakistan Development Foundation (PDF), Bilal Sethi, has made a heartfelt appeal to philanthropists, urging them to step up and provide support to the needy during these trying times.
During a recent interaction with volunteer students at a Free Medical Camp held at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University in Peshawar, Sethi emphasized that the current economic situation serves as a crucial test for those who have the means to help. He stated, "Inflation has broken the back of the poor people. In such conditions, access to better health facilities is impossible for the poor." This statement underscores the urgent need for collective action to alleviate the suffering of the less fortunate.
In a collaborative effort, the PDF, along with the university, the Pakistan Army, and Lady Reading Hospital, is organizing a Free Medical Camp on October 15. This initiative aims to provide essential medical services to the underprivileged communities residing in various villages, including Lamma, Chagharmatti, Ashab Baba, Faqir Kalay, Nasapa Payan, Nasapa Bala, Haryana Payan, Haryana Bala, and Shero Jangi. The camp will feature ten specialists, including dermatologists, ENT specialists, gynecologists, dentists, pediatricians, pulmonologists, psychiatrists, and nutritionists, all dedicated to offering their expertise free of charge.
Bilal Sethi also took the time to encourage the female volunteers, reminding them to approach the patients with compassion and understanding, as many would be experiencing pain and distress. He assured that patients would receive free medicines and diagnostic testing for conditions such as diabetes, further emphasizing the camp's commitment to providing comprehensive care.
The presence of key figures, including the Director of Student Affairs at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, Professor Dr. Farhat Humayun, and other officials, highlights the collaborative spirit of this initiative. Their involvement not only adds credibility to the camp but also showcases a united front in the fight against poverty and health disparities.
As the Free Medical Camp approaches, it serves as a reminder of the power of community and the importance of supporting one another in times of need. Philanthropy plays a vital role in bridging the gap between the privileged and the underprivileged, and it is crucial for those who can help to take action. In a world where economic challenges are prevalent, the call to support the poor is not just a plea; it is a moral obligation that can lead to a brighter future for all.
