The Punjab government has revised wheat and flour prices to promote food security and affordability. Standardized rates and availability of fortified flour aim to improve access to essential food items while cracking down on unfair pricing practices.

The Punjab government has recently released updated prices for wheat and flour in various cities across the province. This move aims to regulate the cost of essential food items and ensure affordability for the residents.

In Lahore and Rawalpindi, a 20kg bag of flour will now be priced at Rs1,840, while the cost of wheat per 40kg is set at Rs3,000 in Lahore and Rs3,050 in Rawalpindi. In Attock and Jhelum, consumers can purchase a 20kg flour bag for Rs1,820, and in Chakwal, Kasur, and Sheikhupura, the price is fixed at Rs1,780. Other cities in Punjab will witness prices ranging from Rs1,600 to Rs1,680 for a 20kg flour bag.

As for wheat prices, Mandi Baha-ud-Din, Wazirabad, Hafizabad, and Multan will now have a rate of Rs2,900 per 40kg. In Rahim Yar Khan, Khushab, and Chiniot, the price will be Rs2,850 per 40kg. Sargodha, Faisalabad, and Toba Tek Singh will also see wheat priced at Rs2,850 per 40kg. In Bahawalnagar, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, and Bhakkar, the new wheat price is set at Rs2,800 per 40kg.

The official notification highlights that fortified flour will be available at the same rates as regular flour, ensuring access to more nutritious options for consumers. Additionally, the government warns against overcharging and emphasizes that individuals caught engaging in this practice will face legal consequences.

The Punjab government's decision to revise wheat and flour prices is a step towards promoting food security and affordability for the residents of the province.
