Sindh government initiates Pakistan's first online auction for premium number plates, aiding flood victims through housing projects.

The Sindh excise, taxation and narcotics control department has taken a significant step towards modernizing public services by launching Pakistan's first online auction for premium number plates. This initiative, announced by Sindh Senior Minister for Transport and Excise & Taxation, Sharjeel Inam Memon, aims to raise funds for housing projects dedicated to flood victims in the region. The auction will feature premium number plates categorized into platinum, gold, and silver, with all proceeds directed towards the Sindh People's Housing Project.

In a statement, Memon emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “This is an important step by the Government of Sindh in its journey toward modern public service. Citizens can register themselves and participate in the online auction to win exclusive number plates while contributing to a worthy cause.” This auction not only provides an opportunity for citizens to acquire unique number plates but also allows them to contribute to a noble cause, helping those who have suffered due to recent floods.

Participants interested in joining the auction can easily register through the official website, premiumnumber.excise.gos.pk, or by downloading the excise department app. The auction will be open for three days following the registration period, making it accessible for many individuals eager to take part.

In addition to the online auction, the excise and narcotics control department has been actively combating drug-related crimes in Karachi. Recently, a team led by Excise Inspector Muhammad Zubair Lakho conducted a major operation in the Malir area, resulting in the arrest of a notorious drug-peddling gang. This operation led to the apprehension of four individuals, including two women, who were caught in the act of packing heroin. A total of 506 grams of heroin was recovered from their possession, highlighting the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the region.

Furthermore, another operation near Dua Hotel on Mauripur Road resulted in the arrest of an alleged drug dealer, Ghulam Abbas, with 510 grams of ice (methamphetamine) found in his possession. These operations reflect the commitment of the excise and narcotics control department to ensure the safety and well-being of the community by tackling drug-related issues head-on.

As the Sindh government continues to innovate and implement new strategies for public service, the online auction for premium number plates stands out as a prime example of how technology can be harnessed for social good. By participating in this auction, citizens not only have the chance to own a unique number plate but also play a vital role in supporting those in need. It is a reminder that even small contributions can lead to significant changes in the lives of others, especially in times of crisis.
