Early on a Saturday morning, a container became stuck under the Do-Moria Pul bridge on Circular Road in Lahore, leading to significant damage to the railway tracks and halting train services for several hours. The incident, which occurred at around 5am, was a result of the driver's negligence. The impact of the container caused extensive damage to the railway track girders, resulting in the misalignment of both the up and down tracks.

As a result of this mishap, railway traffic between Lahore and Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Narowal was disrupted for a period of three to four hours. Trains such as the Railcar from Lahore to Rawalpindi, the Shalimar Express from Karachi via Faisalabad, and the Khyber Mail experienced delays in their schedules due to the incident.

The swift response from the railways administration was commendable, as emergency repairs were promptly initiated to restore the damaged tracks. Chief Engineer Open Line, Fareed Ahmad, oversaw the repair work, and the affected section was successfully restored, allowing train services to resume by 10am.

Divisional Superintendent Lahore, Muhammad Hanif Gul, acknowledged the driver's negligence and highlighted the need for additional repairs to ensure the complete restoration of the railway infrastructure. While the tracks are currently operational, further maintenance work is scheduled to be carried out during the night.

The incident underlines the importance of adhering to safety protocols and regulations while transporting goods near critical infrastructure such as railway tracks. The efficient response from the railways administration in addressing the situation and restoring services promptly showcases their commitment to ensuring the smooth functioning of the railway network.
