Madeeha Gohar, a prominent figure in the world of television and stage acting, as well as a dedicated advocate for women's rights, was commemorated on the anniversary of her passing on April 25th. Born on September 21, 1956, in Karachi, Gohar was revered for her exceptional talent in delivering dialogue and portraying characters with finesse.

Having earned her MA in English literature from Government College University, Lahore, Gohar furthered her studies by obtaining a master's degree in Theatre Sciences from the University of London. Her acting journey commenced in 1973 on PTV, where she showcased her skills in over 100 Urdu and Punjabi dramas. In 1983, the inception of the Dramatic Club paved the way for the presentation of several successful dramas under the banner of Ajoka Theatre, including notable productions like 'Bulha,' 'Dara,' and 'Toba Tek Singh.'

Recognized for her directorial prowess, Gohar used her platform to advocate for social change, tolerance, and gender equality through her impactful storytelling. Her contributions to the arts were acknowledged with prestigious accolades, such as the Fatima Jinnah Award, in recognition of her artistic endeavors.

In her final years, Gohar valiantly battled cancer before peacefully passing away on April 25, 2018, in Lahore at the age of 62.
