The Sindh government has taken action against the municipal chairman of Mirpur Mathelo, Shahbaz Ahmed Khan Lund, following his alleged involvement in the tragic murder of journalist Nasrullah Gadani. The incident occurred on May 21 in Mirpur Mathelo when armed individuals attacked Gadani, leading to his untimely demise on May 25. Initially, the case was registered against unidentified assailants at the local police station. However, on June 27, eyewitnesses came forward to identify Pakistan Peoples Party MNA Khalid Lund and his two sons, including Shahbaz, as suspects in the heinous crime.

In response to mounting pressure from journalists demanding justice, the Sindh government invoked Section 120, Subsection 3 of the Sindh Local Government Ordinance to suspend Shahbaz from his position. This move has been widely praised by prominent journalists Ghazi Jhandir and Nimat Kharo as a crucial step towards ensuring accountability and seeking justice for the late journalist.
